Fish Mongolia
Guided Fly-fishing for Taimen and Trout in Mongolia
Fish Mongolia have been outfitting exceptional fly-fishing trips and camps in Mongolia since 2003. Fly-fishing is primarily for Taimen, Lenok Trout and Grayling. Taimen are renowned for their aggressive surface strikes on mouse and squirrel flies and can grow to the largest size of any fish in the salmon family; put simply they are a giant pre-historic trout.

Fish Mongolia is a fully licensed Mongolian fly-fishing outfitter and tour operator, owned by Andy Parkinson. Andy is a British fly-fisherman and conservation professional who has been living and working in Mongolia since 2000; he is widely recognized as Ulaanbaatar’s resident Taimen fly-fishing expert. We have agreements for fishing on three river systems in the Khovsgol region of Northern Mongolia, where we work closely with the local communities on conservation and community initiatives. Our international guide team includes Mongolian, British and American fly-fishing guides.
Fish Mongolia offer both comfortable ger (yurt) camp-based fly fishing trips, and more adventurous float trips and expeditions to fly-fish remote catchments. You have the choice of being based at the camp, returning to your cosy ger each night; or taking a multi-day float trip, camping in tents as we float downriver. The rivers that we fish are located in Northern Mongolia in the Khovsgol Region. This region is source to many of Mongolia’s now famous Taimen rivers including the Shiskhid, Eg-Uur, and Delger Muron. Access to the rivers is either by Cessna flight direct to landing strips close to the camps, or by scheduled domestic flight to the regional centre and overland travel by jeep.
