Fish Mongolia

This September we were lucky enough to host British fly fishing photographer Henry Gilbey on our Delger Muron Float Trip. The photos he took are simply outstanding. “I have to pinch myself on a regular basis that I can get to call this kind of thing my work - the huge river valley where we rafted, walked, camped and fished in Mongolia truly is one of the most special places I have ever laid eyes on in my life.”

The Delger-Muron River Valley is absolutely stunning – a wide river alternating between rapids and deep pools, a wildflower laced valley floor and big high cliffs like bookmarks on either side. It’s one of the nicest places I’ve seen in Mongolia and there wasn’t a village for miles in any direction. We had the entire river to ourselves.

2009 will be our seventh season organizing Taimen fly fishing trips in Mongolia and is shaping up to be another great season. We are looking forward to the official opening of the Taimen fishing season on June 15th, our float trips on the Delger Muron are almost full and we have laid on additional dates for September.

Fishing on the Delger continued to be excellent through the summer, but changeable weather and rain made for tough conditions and slower than usual fishing in early September. Never the less everyone connected with Taimen and all had an enjoyable trip.

Its been a busy few months since my last post… amongst other things Amanda and I got married (twice) and I just spent nearly two months on the river. We’re mid way through the 2008 season and its been one of our best to date.
